Description
I found Lydia to be a story-focused adventure game from Finnish developer Platonic Partnership. Lydia was first released in 2017. Game shows a girl’s view of a troubled adult world using a mix of visual novel story, point‑and‑click exploration, moody settings and scary psychological parts.
The game takes one and a half hours to finish. This makes Game a short experience, for players who like story‑driven indie games instead of long action adventures.
Story and Premise
The story is about Lydia, a girl who really likes her teddy bear, Teddy.
Her home starts to feel more and more strange because of the things the grown-ups around her are doing. Lydia hears sounds coming from downstairs at night. She can’t figure out what is going on.
Her imagination makes her think there is a Monster. From Lydias point of view the Monster is scary but also something she can’t really explain. Teddy is her friend and the thing that makes her feel safe.
This way of looking at things is very important, in the games story. Of showing adult problems through an adult character game makes the player see them through the small understanding and the big imagination of a child.
